Your First Session
A readiness session is a guided conversation about the company's plans, evidence, constraints, and decisions for entering the UK. The advisor adapts to your answers while Navaid builds the company's shared maturity picture.
Before you begin
You must be signed in and have an active company selected. It helps to have:
- a concise description of the company and offer;
- the intended UK customer and buying process;
- current timing, budget, and runway assumptions;
- known regulatory, hiring, banking, or operational dependencies; and
- evidence such as discovery findings, plans, or a pitch deck.
You do not need complete answers. “We have not decided” or “we do not know yet” is useful evidence.
Open New Session
Use either:
- Begin New Session on an empty Dashboard;
- New Session on the Sessions page; or
- the sidebar's New session action, which appears after the company has session history.
The Maturity Map and Tasks pages can also link to New Session with a suggested focus already selected.
Configure the conversation
Session name
Session name is optional. Use a memorable title such as “Pricing validation after UK interviews.” If left blank, Navaid supplies a date-based fallback title in the Sessions list.
Focus dimension
Choosing a focus is optional. A focused session tells the advisor to spend more attention on one of the 15 maturity dimensions without preventing relevant follow-up questions elsewhere.
For a company with existing maturity data, Navaid may preselect a suggested focus:
- a dimension that is close to its next level; or
- a low-level or low-confidence dimension needing attention.
You can keep, replace, or clear the suggestion.
Use company knowledge
After the company has previous sessions, Use company knowledge is available and is selected by default. It seeds the advisor with known company facts and learnings so the conversation can build on earlier work. The advisor should still verify important information during the conversation.
Clear the option if you intentionally want a conversation without prior company context. Material you contribute in the new session can still affect company knowledge and maturity.
Consent
Read and select the required consent checkbox. It explains that:
- the conversation uses AI-generated guidance rather than professional advice;
- assessments may not capture every circumstance;
- qualified professionals should handle legal, financial, and regulatory decisions; and
- conversation data is saved, remains confidential within the company, and is used to produce the maturity profile and tasks.
Select Start conversation when the form is complete.
What happens when the session opens
The advisor starts the conversation with a greeting and first question. You do not need to send a separate “hello.”
The page contains:
- the conversation and message composer;
- Exit session;
- Finish & Get Summary, once enough visible messages have been exchanged;
- an attachment control;
- voice controls when voice is enabled;
- a token-budget indicator when usage is high enough to display; and
- a resizable Layered Readiness Map.
On a narrow screen, use Show readiness details or Expand map to inspect the map.
Have the conversation
Answer naturally. The advisor generally:
- learns what the company does and why the UK matters;
- explores market, regulatory, commercial, operational, financial, and leadership conditions;
- follows gaps or contradictions;
- tests whether plans are supported by evidence; and
- asks the next most useful question.
Useful answers are specific and honest. Include amounts, ranges, dates, decision owners, experiments, customer evidence, and areas of uncertainty where appropriate.
In the composer:
- Enter sends the message.
- Shift+Enter inserts a new line.
- The send button provides the same action.
See Using a Session Conversation for attachments, live cues, read-only viewing, and recovery behaviour.
Watch readiness update
As evidence is interpreted, the map can show:
- dimensions assessed;
- dimensions currently being explored;
- level and confidence;
- the rationale behind a level;
- evidence progress toward the next level; and
- transition cues when a dimension advances or is adjusted.
Task cues may appear when Navaid creates or completes a task during the conversation. These are company tasks and remain available on the Tasks page.
A first assessment can place a newly assessed dimension at the evidence-supported level. In later updates, a single conversation turn does not jump a dimension through several levels at once. Read The Readiness Maturity Model for the complete interpretation.
Add documents or use voice
You can attach supported documents to the composer when written evidence is easier than pasting text. See Documents in Sessions.
When the Voice feature is enabled, you can use live voice instead of typing. Voice and text contribute to the same conversation and maturity state. See Voice Sessions.
Finish the session
Finish & Get Summary becomes available after six visible messages have been exchanged. Its appearance is a UI threshold, not a guarantee that every readiness dimension has been assessed.
When you select it:
- Navaid closes the conversation for new input.
- It generates the final narrative, constraints, role-based next steps, and applicable tasks.
- It records the session's ending maturity state and progression snapshot.
- It opens the Session Summary.
Summary generation uses AI and may take a short while. Avoid closing the page while generation is in progress.
Read Finishing and Leaving Sessions before ending a short or interrupted session, and Session Summary and Results to interpret the output.
Leave without finishing
Select Exit session to return without creating a summary:
- If the session contains no visible conversation, Navaid asks whether to delete the empty session.
- If it contains messages, it remains active and can be reopened from Sessions.
Messages are saved as the conversation progresses. Do not use Exit as a substitute for Finish when you want a final summary and progression snapshot.
Getting better results
- Distinguish intentions from completed evidence: “we plan to interview customers” is different from completed interviews.
- Explain the source of evidence and when it was gathered.
- Correct the advisor if it misunderstands.
- Ask follow-up questions when a UK concept is unfamiliar.
- Use a focused session after the baseline to investigate one dimension.
- Do not overstate readiness; the map is most valuable when it reflects reality.
Common problems
The Finish button is missing
Continue until at least six visible messages have been exchanged. If the conversation has only the advisor's greeting and a very short reply, the threshold has not been reached.
I cannot type in the conversation
You may be viewing another person's session. Manager-level and higher roles can open company sessions, but a session owned by someone else is read-only. A Read-only notice appears above the disabled composer.
The advisor will not send another response
Check for a budget message, lost network connection, or an expired authentication session. Keep the page open while reconnecting. See Token Budgets and Usage and Feature Availability and Troubleshooting.
A document contains no readable text
Scanned PDFs and image-only files are not currently read by the document extractor. Use a text-based export or paste the relevant text into the conversation.
