Voice Sessions
When the Voice feature is enabled, an individual readiness session can become a live spoken conversation with the advisor. Voice turns are transcribed into the same session and update the same maturity state as text turns.
Requirements
- An active individual session that you own.
- Voice enabled by a System Admin.
- A browser with microphone and audio support.
- Permission to use the microphone.
- A stable network connection.
- Remaining AI budget.
Voice is unavailable in a completed or read-only session.
Start voice
- Open the active session.
- Select Start voice conversation.
- Allow microphone access when the browser asks.
- Wait for Connecting to your advisor….
- When the page says it is listening, begin speaking.
For a new empty session, Navaid can prompt the advisor to speak first without adding a visible user “Hello.”
During voice
The page indicates:
- connecting;
- listening;
- advisor speaking; and
- microphone activity.
Your speech and the advisor's words appear progressively in the transcript. At the end of each turn, the authoritative saved transcript and any maturity update are persisted.
The advisor can be interrupted while speaking. The audio player stops the interrupted output, and the next completed turn continues the conversation.
Return to text
Select Stop voice conversation. Navaid closes the live audio connection and restores the normal text composer.
The voice transcript remains in the same session, so you can alternate between speech and text without starting over.
Connection recovery
If an established voice connection closes unexpectedly, Navaid attempts to reconnect up to three times and can reuse a voice-session continuation handle.
If it cannot recover, the page shows a persistent voice error. Dismiss the error or manually start voice again. Existing persisted turns remain in the transcript.
Privacy and surroundings
- The browser sends microphone audio to the live AI service while voice is active.
- Transcripts become session messages.
- Elevated company roles may be able to read the session.
- Do not use voice where confidential information can be overheard.
- Avoid reading credentials, payment details, or unnecessary personal data aloud.
Use headphones where feedback or a shared room could compromise clarity.
Troubleshooting
The voice button is missing
Voice is controlled by the platform's Voice mode feature flag. Ask a System Admin to verify it.
Microphone permission is denied
Use the browser's site-permission control to allow microphone access, then restart voice. Also check operating-system privacy settings.
I can see transcription but hear no advisor
Check the tab and device volume, audio output selection, mute state, and browser autoplay restrictions. Stop and restart voice after changing the output.
Voice drops repeatedly
Move to a more stable connection and continue by text. Persisted voice turns should remain; partial words from an interrupted turn may be incomplete.
The maturity map did not update
Not every spoken turn produces a maturity signal. Wait for the turn to finish and persist, then inspect the dimension rationale.
Group voice is different
Group voice uses a shared room with participant tiles, mute/unmute, and a separate Group voice feature flag. See Group Voice.
