Tasks

Tasks is the active company's shared action list. Navaid creates tasks from readiness conversations to target a specific dimension's next level.

How tasks are created

A task can be generated:

  • when a dimension advances during a session; or
  • during completion reconciliation for an assessed dimension without a matching open next-level task.

Navaid avoids duplicate open tasks for the same company, dimension, and target level. There is no promise that every session creates a task.

Understand the header

The subtitle reports total tasks and counts for:

  • Pending;
  • In progress;
  • Completed; and
  • Dismissed.

When enough data exists, header badges also show:

  • tasks completed in the trailing 30 days; and
  • median days from task creation to completion.

These are workflow measures, not maturity velocity.

Search and filter

Use:

  • Search tasks… — searches task title and description;
  • status — All, Pending, In progress, Completed, Dismissed;
  • role;
  • priority; and
  • dimension.

Filters combine.

Dismissed tasks are deliberately hidden under All statuses. Select Dismissed explicitly to find them.

List order

The active list puts:

  1. In progress before Pending;
  2. higher priority before lower priority; and
  3. newer tasks before older tasks when the first two values match.

Completed tasks move into a struck-through section at the bottom, most recently completed first.

Read a task row

A row shows:

  • completion control;
  • title;
  • priority — Critical, High, Medium, or Low;
  • role — CEO / Founder, CFO, CRO, or COO / CHRO;
  • maturity dimension;
  • In progress or Dismissed state where relevant; and
  • an arrow that opens details.

Selecting the round control completes an active task immediately. Selecting it on a completed task returns the task to Pending.

Task details

Select the task body to open the side panel. It can contain:

  • priority and role;
  • title and description;
  • target transition such as L2 → L3;
  • dimension;
  • estimated effort — Small, Medium, or Large;
  • evidence type;
  • research benchmark; and
  • completion notes.

Evidence labels are:

  • Verified in conversation
  • Self-attested
  • Verified by URL
  • Platform-verified

Generated tasks currently most commonly use conversation or self-attestation.

Change task status

Pending → In progress

Open details and select Mark in progress.

In progress → Pending

Select Back to pending to pause.

Pending or In progress → Completed

Use the row's completion control or select Mark complete.

Completed → Pending

Open details and select Mark as not completed, or use the row control.

Pending or In progress → Dismissed

Select Dismiss and confirm. Dismissed tasks remain in history but are hidden from the All view.

Dismissed → Pending

Filter to Dismissed, open the task, and select Restore.

Completion notes

Notes are editable only while the task is Completed:

  1. Open the completed task.
  2. Enter Completion notes (optional).
  3. Record what was done and any useful evidence.
  4. Select Save note.

Notes do not by themselves force a maturity update. Bring the evidence into a readiness conversation when the advisor needs to reassess the dimension.

Task completion and maturity

Completing a task records:

  • completed status;
  • completion time;
  • completing user; and
  • optional notes.

It does not directly increment the dimension level. The Maturity Map changes through evidence interpretation. This protects the model from treating a tick-box as proof that the target outcome has been validated.

Team usage

Tasks are company resources, not private personal to-do items. Role tags describe the executive perspective, not a named assignee.

Use an external ownership process if your organisation needs a specific person's name, due date, dependency graph, or notifications; those fields are not part of the current task interface.

Troubleshooting

A dismissed task disappeared

Select the Dismissed status. It is hidden from All.

I expected a new task after a session

The dimension may not have advanced, a matching open task may already exist, or summary reconciliation may have produced no new task.

Completion notes are missing

The editor appears only for Completed tasks. Mark it complete, add notes, and save.

A status change failed

The old state remains authoritative. Refresh, confirm the active company and membership, and retry once.
