Using a Session Conversation
The individual session page combines a saved conversation with the active company's live maturity map. This guide covers the controls and data implications after session setup.
Prerequisites
- The session must belong to the active company.
- To send messages, you must own the active session.
- The company's monthly AI budget must have capacity.
- Voice and other optional tools require their feature to be enabled.
An elevated user can open another member's session, but the composer is read-only.
Conversation startup
For a new session, Navaid sends an internal, hidden greeting trigger so the advisor speaks first. You see the advisor's opening message, not a synthetic user “Hello.”
Messages are loaded when you return to an active session. The transcript opens near the most recent message.
Send a text message
- Enter a response in Type your message….
- Press Enter or select Send.
- Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
- Wait while the advisor responds.
The send control is temporarily disabled while a message or attachment is being processed or while live voice is active.
The advisor's messages can include formatted text and links. External links open separately; verify third-party information before relying on it.
Read live cues
Depending on the turn, Navaid can show:
- AI responding or sending state;
Dimension advanced Lx → Lyor an adjusted-level cue;- New task added;
- Task completed; and
- the rationale or thought process associated with a maturity update.
These cues report application updates, not guarantees that an action is commercially complete.
Use the Layered Readiness Map
The right-hand pane updates from the company maturity state as turns complete.
You can:
- select a segment to open dimension details;
- inspect level, confidence, rationale, and evidence progress;
- close the detail panel;
- drag the divider to resize chat and map on desktop;
- click the divider to cycle common widths; or
- use Arrow keys, Home, and End while the divider has keyboard focus.
The chosen split is remembered on the device.
On smaller screens, use Show readiness details or Expand map to reveal the map.
Add a document
Select Attach a document to extract text and send it as a reference turn. See Documents in Sessions for supported formats, size limits, storage history, and sensitive-data guidance.
Use voice
When voice is enabled, select Start voice conversation. The text transcript and maturity state continue in the same session. See Voice Sessions.
Token budget indicator
A usage indicator appears below the composer only after monthly input-token use reaches its display threshold. It reports remaining input-token allowance; it is not a currency balance and does not show the complete output-token position.
If monthly user or company limits are exhausted, AI-backed actions can be blocked. See Token Budgets and Usage.
Autosave and return
User and advisor turns are persisted as the session progresses. Select Exit session to return without generating a summary:
- an empty conversation prompts for deletion;
- a conversation with visible messages remains active.
Reopen it from Sessions. See Finishing and Leaving Sessions.
Read-only viewing
If you are a Manager, Admin, Consultant, or System Admin opening a teammate's individual session:
- the transcript is available;
- the readiness pane can be inspected;
- the page shows Read-only; and
- the composer explains that you cannot reply.
The session owner remains the only person who can continue it.
Error recovery
A send fails
Keep your original text until you confirm whether it appeared in the transcript. Check connectivity and authentication, then retry once. Avoid sending the same long response repeatedly.
The map did not move
A message does not need to generate a maturity signal. The evidence may confirm the existing level, have low confidence, or concern a dimension not yet ready to transition. Open the detail rationale after the turn.
The page says Session not found
Check the active company, the URL, and your session visibility. The same generic message can protect access-controlled records.
The interface is read-only unexpectedly
Confirm that you own the session and that it has not completed. If the card was marked Not yours, read-only is expected.
The advisor is slow
Long prompts, attached documents, network conditions, or service load can increase processing time. Do not close or submit duplicate turns while the sending state is active.
