Group Voice

Group Voice adds a live audio room to an active group session. Human participants and the Navaid advisor can speak together while text participants continue to see presence and advisor captions.

Availability​

Both of these must be available:

  • Group sessions
  • Group voice

System Admins can access group voice for verification when the Group voice flag is off. Deployment-specific live-audio configuration must also be complete.

Open the voice room​

  1. Join an active group session.
  2. Select Voice beside the composer.
  3. In the panel, select Join voice.
  4. Grant microphone access.
  5. Wait for the room to show Live.

The room initially enables your microphone.

Voice controls​

  • Mute stops publishing microphone audio while you remain in the room.
  • Unmute resumes it.
  • Leave disconnects from voice but keeps you in the text group session.

Participant tiles show:

  • your identity;
  • other participants;
  • the Navaid Assistant;
  • who is currently speaking; and
  • whether a tile is you, another participant, or the AI advisor.

Text-only participants can see In voice now with the connected participants' names.

Advisor joining and captions​

After humans connect, Navaid waits for the advisor to join the room.

  • Waiting for the Navaid advisor to join… is normal for a short connection period.
  • If the advisor remains absent, the room states that voice can continue between people and recommends using text to involve the advisor.

As the advisor speaks, a transient caption appears in the text transcript. The saved assistant message replaces that caption after the corresponding turn is persisted.

Relationship to the text conversation​

Group voice does not create a separate readiness record:

  • advisor turns are persisted into the group transcript;
  • maturity updates use the same shared pipeline;
  • participants can continue to use Ask or Note after leaving voice; and
  • finishing the group session ends the overall conversation, not just the room.

Privacy and meeting practice​

  • Tell every person in the room that the conversation is transcribed and used for readiness assessment.
  • Use headphones in shared spaces.
  • Mute when not speaking.
  • Avoid credentials and unnecessary personal data.
  • Resolve conflicting statements verbally so the advisor has clear context.

Troubleshooting​

Voice is absent from the composer​

The Group voice flag may be off even when Group sessions is on. These are separate settings.

Joining says the service is not configured​

The deployment's live-audio service has not been fully configured. Continue by text and contact a System Admin or platform operator.

The advisor does not join​

Wait for the unavailable notice. Humans can continue speaking, but use Ask the assistant in text if you need an AI response and maturity processing.

No one can hear me​

Unmute, check browser and operating-system microphone permissions, confirm the correct input device, and watch whether your tile shows speaking activity.

I left voice but still appear present​

Use Leave in the voice panel and wait briefly for presence to update. Refresh if the indicator remains stale.

Internal test surface​

The application also contains a hidden Group Voice Lab used for audio-path testing. It is not the normal user workflow. Use the voice controls embedded in a real group session.
