Competitor Analysis
Competitor Analysis uses AI-assisted discovery and grounded web research to examine the active company's UK competitive landscape. Analyses are shared company records and consume the applicable monthly AI budget.
Before you start
Prepare:
- company name and website;
- concise product and target-customer description;
- the specific UK angle you want to investigate; and
- any known competitors that discovery should include.
For Profile mode, improve Company Knowledge first if the current facts are sparse.
Open the analysis list
Select Competitor Analysis in the sidebar.
An empty company sees Start Your First Analysis. Once records exist, select New Analysis.
Each analysis card shows:
- title;
- Complete, Analysing, or Failed status;
- creation date;
- competitor count;
- competitor names; and
- High, Medium, or Low threat badges when available.
Select a card to open it.
Choose the input mode
From Your Company Profile
This mode uses known company-profile facts, such as industry, products, and target markets.
You can add Additional Company Information for the analysis. Although the current helper text says it is saved to the profile, the present workflow sends that text as analysis context and does not update Company Knowledge. Make lasting corrections under Company → Knowledge.
Manual Entry
Use this for:
- a sparse company profile;
- scenario exploration;
- a different product or segment; or
- a specific strategic angle.
Enter:
- required Company Name;
- optional Website URL; and
- optional Description.
Manual input is stored with the analysis, not merged into the company's facts.
Discover competitors
- Optionally enter an Analysis Title.
- Complete the selected input mode.
- Select Discover Competitors.
- Wait while Navaid researches the market.
Discovery can take around a minute. Do not navigate away while the loading state is active.
Review discovery
The discovered list is a proposed research set, not a verified definitive market map.
You can:
- select or deselect discovered competitors;
- review names, websites, descriptions, and discovery rationale;
- select Add Competitor;
- enter a competitor name and optional website; and
- cancel an incomplete manual addition.
At least one selected competitor is required to run full analysis.
Check similarly named companies and URLs carefully before continuing.
Run Full Analysis
Select Run Full Analysis (n competitors). The page shows an analysing state and notes that a deep analysis typically takes one to two minutes.
The analysis consumes AI tokens and can be blocked by user or company monthly budgets.
On success, Navaid opens the detail page. On failure, the analysis list can show Failed; create a new run only after checking input, connectivity, and budget.
Read the result
The detail header shows:
- title;
- input mode;
- date;
- competitor count; and
- Export PDF.
Depending on generated data, sections include:

Use source links to check the supporting page and its date. Web evidence can be incomplete or outdated.
Export PDF
Select Export PDF and wait for the browser-generated file. Review it before sharing, especially source links and AI-derived estimates.
Delete an analysis
From the analysis list:
- Select the trash action.
- Confirm Delete analysis.
Deletion is permanent. It removes that analysis record; it does not change the company's Maturity Map automatically.
Data and judgement
- Analyses are scoped to the active company.
- Do not include secrets or unnecessary personal data in manual context.
- Threat levels are AI interpretations, not legal or investment conclusions.
- Market sizes and competitor facts should be independently verified.
- A PDF leaves Navaid's access controls.
Troubleshooting
Profile mode says there is no company data
Enter temporary additional context or add persistent facts under Company Knowledge.
Discovery finds no competitors
Use a clearer product, customer, sector, and UK-specific description, then add known competitors manually.
Analysis remains Analysing
Refresh the list after the expected processing period. Do not repeatedly start identical analyses.
Export fails
Wait for all sections to load, allow browser downloads, and retry once.
